Hi folks, Steve Rouse here. Well, it’s taken me a while to figure out the “next thing”, but I believe I have with these stories. From growing up in a small town in the 50’s and 60’s to a crazy morning show and our band, to an organic farm and a slightly scandalous BnB, I’m sharing my journey with all the humorous twists and turns this old baby boomer has experienced along the way.  Plus, I share a lifestyle, we call “Steve Style” full of growing veggies, having a flock of chickens, keeping bees, heating with wood,  cutting firewood, and being one of Mother Nature’s closest friends.

Listen in the car or read and watch at lunch, in bed or sitting on the … you know. I hope you enjoy!

Today is Pepper’s birthday.  She’s 5 today.  I could go on and on about what a great dog she is, but I’ll just say as she’s matured she has become amazing.  It wasn’t always like that.  She was a bit of a pain in the ass for awhile.  Many of those trials and tribulations I wrote about in the story “Conversations with Pepper” Happy birthday Pep, my beautiful girl.  Here’s to 5 more!

It’s getting to be wrapping up time for the garden as there is a change in the air. It’s getting cooler, the sun’s a lot lower and the days are getting shorter. 🍅 There’s still a few of the last ripe tomatoes hanging on the vines. 🥕 Leaving the carrots and beets in the ground where they will store just fine until a hard frost. 🥬 Lettuce will still grow until frost. 🥦 The Cole...

It’s a remarkable thing, going to the dump. Something about it gets the juices flowing. It may be the heavy equipment roaming around. It may be the camaraderie you feel with the workers and other patrons. It might just be the beautiful organization of the place: glass here, trash there, old paint there, used oil over here. My latest story tells of some of my experiences there including jumping into a huge dumpster to retrieve...
