Hi folks, Steve Rouse here. Well, it’s taken me a while to figure out the “next thing”, but I believe I have with these stories. From growing up in a small town in the 50’s and 60’s to a crazy morning show and our band, to an organic farm and a slightly scandalous BnB, I’m sharing my journey with all the humorous twists and turns this old baby boomer has experienced along the way. Plus, I share a lifestyle, we call “Steve Style” full of growing veggies, having a flock of chickens, keeping bees, heating with wood, cutting firewood, and being one of Mother Nature’s closest friends.

Tomatoes are producing beautifully Corn is coming up and the next plot is hanging in there for the most part despite all the rain Some potatoes are ready to harvest Lettuce and zucchini is going crazy! Apparently I’ve stumbled on a new business, raising Mourning Doves. Yes, welcome to “Mourning Dove Farm”! I posted the end of last week, the babies getting ready to leave the nest. They left and this morning Mom was back on the nest and when she left look what I found!! I’m expecting Mother’s Day next year to be chaos!

Under the Cover of Darkness

Now 11 weeks old, the chicks have moved to a new apartment joined by their 4 older sisters. Jake the Snake was left in the barn, but somehow this morning ended up outside the girls veranda, so I let him in.
