A certain disaster turned into a grand moment during the 11 gun salute honoring my 5 generation grandfather Jacques Rouse the other day in Rouses Point, N.Y. Apparently one of the riflemen was a rookie and didn’t no he wasn’t supposed to load an actual bullet in his weapon. I just happened to be walking by, holding a historic pewter plate, when they fired. The rookie also forgot to shoot into the sky and his bullet hit my pewter plate and knocked me into Lake Champlain. The plate broke in two and flew like two frisbees into the air and killed two wild turkeys that were in the wrong place at the wrong time. When I came too, my left hand held a beavers tail, my right hand was on a otters head and both my pants pocket were so full of fish my button popped off my fly and killed a partridge!!! I was anointed a hero and a feast ensued.
